Because Italy is a part of the European Union, any packages coming from the UK, or any other country inside the EU, will not have any duties and taxes applied when clearing customs. Shipments from elsewhere in the world, however, will have to pay duties and taxes on any parcel worth more than €150 before it is cleared from customs.
Make sure to properly declare the contents of your package so that there aren’t any problems when clearing customs – use the full name and value of your goods in the customs paperwork.
Once you’ve booked your collection, we can pick-up your parcel on the very same day from most locations across the UK.
If your shipment weighs more than 50kg, or is longer than 180cm, you will need to book 24 hours in advance and provide assistance for your courier in loading or unloading the delivery.
If you’re sending a pallet or an item requiring a tail lift or pallet truck, please contact our customer care team prior to collection.
We only deliver on normal working weekdays between 9am and 6pm, unless you have chosen one our timed delivery services. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, most of our couriers will make another two attempts, however some couriers like DPD only make one attempt.
Although we offer door-to-door tracking, some of our partners, such as UPS, do sometimes leave parcels in a safe place without requiring a signature. If you need proof of delivery, please use the upgrade option ‘Signature required’ on our ‘select service page’
Along with offering great prices and service, Fastlane® gives you free door-to-door tracking with every shipment. You can watch the progress of your parcel on every step of the journey, from the moment that it leaves your hands until it arrives with the recipient in Italy, simply by entering your tracking number into our parcel tracking page.
In the unlikely event that something goes wrong, your parcel status will be changed to ‘exception’, and we’ll notify you and your recipient by email if any delays occur.Learn more about tracking your parcel to Italy
If you are sending a present to Italy from inside the European Union, there are no duties or taxes when clearing customs. If not, there is an exemption from customs duties and taxes when sending gifts worth less than €45.
It can be tempting to try and keep the contents of your package a surprise for the recipient. However, this could cause problems in clearing customs, so make sure to properly declare the contents and value in your customs paperwork.

There are all sorts of delights to sample in Italy, but sometimes there’s just no substitute for the taste of home. There are plenty of delicious treats which you can safely ship to Italy with Fastlane®, you just need to ensure they meet our simple criteria.
So, whether you’re sending a tasty birthday treat to someone in Naples or sending your Venetian pen pal your favourite recipe, Fastlane® makes it a simple matter to send food to Italy. Food is a popular shipment with Fastlane®, so we know exactly how to make sure that your comestibles are in the best hands.
When it comes to shipping internationally, there’s a lot of process. By the time your package arrives in Italy, it will have changed hands – and trucks or planes – several times. A very small amount of parcels are damaged every year, but it does happen, so it’s very important to make sure that you have properly packaged your goods before they are shipped.
If you would like your goods to arrive in the same condition that they left in, there are three important things to keep in mind when packaging them:
A second-hand box may seem like a good deal, but any money you save could well be lost if it bursts in transit and your goods are lost or damaged. Buy new, and if the contents weigh more than 10kg, buy a double-lined box.
Could your package survive being dropped from chest height? If you’ve packed it properly it should. Wrap every item individually, then place in your box with packing material in the gaps, so that there is at least 6cm between the box walls and your goods.
Use strong parcel tape because it’s tape designed specifically for parcels. Wrap round your box three times in a Union Jack flag pattern, covering all joins and corners, and then secure your shipping label so that everything on it can be read by our courier.
Yes, with Fastlane® you can ship food to Italy. If you’d like to do so, keep in mind that food you wish to ship must be store bought, non-perishable and in the original packaging. Homemade foods will not be allowed
Customs charges won’t be applied to parcels sent from within the EU, but if sent from outside the European Union, customs and duties are applied to shipments worth more than €150. If this is the case, the fee is charged by the customs agency, not by Fastlane®.
Whenever you ship internationally, there are some items that are not allowed. To see what goods are not allowed to be sent by courier, check out Fastlane’s list of prohibited items. Italy also has their own list of prohibited or restricted goods, so be sure to get in touch with their customs agency if you are not sure that your goods are allowed.
Like a normal package, there are no extra charges levied on gifts sent from the UK to Italy, or any other country inside the EU. For shipments sent from outside the EU, there is a gift exemption of €45, so as long as your gifts are worth less than this, you will not have any extra fees charged.

Yes, when shipping to remote areas of Italy such as parts of Tuscany, or islands such as Capri, or Procida, your shipment will sometimes take an extra day or two to deliver. Don’t worry though, we’ll always tell you the actual day we’ll deliver when you obtain a shipping quote from us.
