    We can collect from most UK postcodes same day. Arranging a courier is easy with Fastlane®. Whether you need an overnight courier, express mail service, or freight delivery, simply compare our parcel delivery services, and book the best courier service for your needs.

    For bulky items, or heavy parcels or pallets weighing over 30 kg, you will need provide the courier with assisting loading your parcel.

    Booking times for same day collection

    Unfortunately, we can’t provide a specific time for collection, however we do offer a collection window, for example you can request that the courier collect after 3 PM. We also offer a convenient drop-off service so you don’t have to wait home all day for the courier to arrive.

    If you book a collection from your door, and the courier has not arrived by 4 PM, we recommend you contact us so we can investigate with the courier and make sure there have not been any issues with the collection.

    Most of our services require you to have a printer to print the shipping documentation. However, we do have an upgrade option if you don’t have a printer available, which means the courier will provide your labels. In addition to the parcel label, if you’re shipping outside the EU, you also need to produce paperwork for customs, which Fastlane® will also help you produce.

    Drop-off services

    Our drop-off service enables you to drop your parcel at any one of 20,000 retailers across the UK. It’s super convenient as a lot of retailers are open until late evening. We currently offer drop-off locations for UPS access points, DPD pickup locations, and Parcelforce drop-off locations including the entire post office network.

Courier Delivery

Unless you use our timed parcel delivery service, deliveries are attempted between 9 AM and 6 PM on working weekdays. You can track your parcel on the day of delivery, if you see an ‘out for delivery to courier’ scan, then you know there have been no in-transit delays, and your package will be delivered that day. If you don’t see this scan, please contact us.

Most parcel carriers make three delivery attempts as standard, however some carriers like DPD only make one delivery attempt. If delivery fails, the courier will often drop your parcel to a local pickup point, if this occurs the courier will leave a card notifying you where you can collect your parcel from.

For small parcels under 20 kg in weight, UPS only make one delivery attempt, if delivery fails, they will drop your parcel to a local retailer for collection.

DPD European parcel delivery

DPD only makes one delivery attempt as standard, if delivery fails, the recipient will be required to pick up the parcel from a local retailer.

Fastlane® offers real-time parcel tracking on every shipment you send, enabling you to track your parcel from the point of pickup, right through to delivery directly from our tracking page, regardless of whether you need DHL tracking or UPS tracking, with Fastlane® you can do all in one place.

If any delays occur with your shipment, the status of your shipment will change to ‘exception’, and we will also provide an advice message letting you know whether we require any additional information from you. For your convenience, Fastlane® also offers a managed service, whereby we proactively notify you by email when delays occur.

Packaging for safe shipping

Even when you use the best and most professional couriers, your package will be handled and loaded multiple times. The more fragile your item, the more important good packaging is, but no matter what you’re shipping, good packaging is critical to ensuring safe delivery. Follow our helpful tips to provide additional peace of mind.

Here are the main things to consider when packaging your items:

1. Shipping boxes

Choosing the right box is really important. If the box is too small, then you’ll be forced to pack the contents more tightly which can put strain on the box. If the box is not strong enough it could collapse when other boxes are put on top of it.

Use a new, strong double-lined box, that is suitably sized for the content.

2. Internal cushioning

  • Wrap each item separately in bubble wrap.
  • Make sure none of the items touch the inside walls of the box.
  • Pack the shipping box full of internal cushioning such as bubble-wrap. If the items can move around inside the box, it increases the risk of damage.

3. Taping your box

  • Use strong clear packaging tape.
  • Generously wrap tape around the box three times in both directions, in a Union Jack flag pattern. The more tape you use the stronger the box becomes.
  • If you’ve reused an old box, make sure you remove any old labels or barcodes.

Whether you’re sending a large bulky item, or a heavy pallet, Fastlane® offers a comprehensive range of logistics solutions, for both urgent express delivery, and economy expedited shipping.

All large parcel deliveries need to be booked 24 hours in advance of your required collection, if you require a tail lift for assistance with loading please contact us in advance of shipping.

We recommend heavy items over 50 kg in weight are palletised, however do bear in mind that the volumetric weight of your package will be calculated based upon the total footprint of the pallet.

Each country has a list of postcodes considered remote by the courier. Each courier maintains their own separate list.

Home Delivery

Fastlane® delivers to homes as well as businesses. It costs parcel carriers more to deliver to homes and therefore most apply an additional surcharge for residential delivery.

When you obtain a quote from Fastlane® we don’t at that point know whether you’re shipping to a residential address, so this is the only surcharge which is not included in our initial quote to you. However, on the quote page we do offer an upgrade option for home delivery which adds the surcharge to your quote.

Parcel insurance

Fastlane® offers £50 free cover on every shipment, additional enhanced cover can be purchased up to a maximum value of £50,000.

It’s important to be aware that there are a number of products which are not suitable for shipping via a parcel carrier, such as white goods, furniture, and products containing glass. These items are considered non-compensation items, which we do not offer enhanced cover for.

However, if you contact us in advance of shipping, and provide images of the packaging that you have used, if we are satisfied that the goods have been professionally packaged and are safe for transportation then we will offer enhanced cover even for products listed on our non-compensation list.

Please also be aware that if your package is damaged in transit, if the packaging is found to be insufficient, then you will not be entitled to claim.

FAQs

How does Fastlane® decide which courier services it will offer?

Fastlane® assesses every courier service, and continually monitors the service to ensure it adheres to our quality guidelines. Even though we offer the courier services of every major parcel courier, we do often withdraw services to a specific country for a specific courier if we find that their on-time delivery performance is not satisfactory.

Does Fastlane® offer a postal service?

No, Fastlane® only offers a courier service. The difference between a courier service and a postage service is delivery is normally faster by courier, we also obtain a signature upon delivery, and you can track your package from door-to-door.

How can Fastlane® courier services be cheaper than postage?

As one of the UK’s leading online parcel providers, Fastlane’s huge buying power enables us to command huge discounts on parcel delivery. That doesn’t mean we are always cheaper than post, and for small packages under 2 kg in weight, it’s normally cheaper to post the parcel through Royal Mail. However, for packages over 2 kg in weight using a courier service is normally significantly cheaper than postage and with so many additional benefits such as faster shipping and signed for delivery, it makes so much more sense.

How do I know when my parcel will be delivered?

When you obtain a parcel quote with Fastlane®, every courier service we offer will state the next available pickup date and the specific date the package will be delivered. You can also track your consignment at any time, to see when your parcel is out for delivery.

What’s the difference between your express and economy services?

If you’re sending an economy service within the European Union, your shipment will be transported by road and will therefore take longer to deliver. Even for expedited delivery outside of the EU, although your goods will fly to the destination country, they will likely be transported by road within the destination country, which again takes longer to deliver.
Most express services are by air and therefore the transit times are significantly faster. If your goods are time sensitive, we strongly recommend you use one of our express delivery services.

Are there any additional costs I need to be aware of?

All Fastlane® quotes include all applicable surcharges, however you should be aware that your package will travel through customs if you’re shipping outside of the EU and will be subject to import duties and tax which will be payable by the recipient. If you’re sending a gift or personal effects, then your shipment may be exempt from customs charges but this depends on the country you’re shipping to. We recommend you contact us in advance of shipping if you need further information on the costs that may be applied by customs in the destination country.

Does Fastlane® offer corporate accounts?

Yes, Fastlane® offers business courier accounts. Whether you’re a sole trader, need to ship goods sold on eBay, or a large corporate, if you ship over 40 consignments per month, then you are eligible for our business account service.
